Beth Kanter, the social-media writer and consultant, wants to dispel the myth that an organization has to be big to win online giving contests such as the Case Foundation's America's Giving Challenge or Pepsi's Refresh Challenge.
In truth, smaller organizations—groups she defines as generating less than $5-million in annual revenues—accounted for all of the winners of the most recent America's Giving Challenge.
To provide inspiration, Ms. Kanter is writing a series of guest posts on the Case Foundation's blog to highlight recent contest winners.
The first case study spotlights a campaign by Darius Goes West, a group that raises money to support research [TO FIND A CURE?] Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
The organization used video, Facebook, and Twitter to raise more than $24,400 in donations through the Case challenge. In addition, Darius Goes West won a $10,000 prize from the foundation for its performance in the contest.
