Chookasian Armenian Ensemble awarded the Armenian Music Grammy Award

The Fresno-based Chookasian Armenian Ensemble was awarded the Armenian Music Grammy Award for their Passage to Armenia album.  Selected as the Best Traditional Armenian Folk Music CD Album at the 10th Annual Armenian Music Awards ceremony held at the 7,000 seat Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, CA.



In the past 15 years, the Ensemble have achieved many successes in preserving and performing the traditional songs and dances of Eastern and historic Western Armenia.

All of the Ensemble’s musicians are all conservatory graduate musicians from Armenia and the USA and have been performed Armenian cultural programs throughout the USA and Armenia.  Some of the other accomplishments of the Chookasian Armenian Ensemble are: being invited by President Robert Kocharian, of Armenia for a one-month concert/festival tour of Armenian and Karabagh; being awarded the Armenia’s National Gold Medal Award; performing for His Holiness, Catholicos, Karekin II from Armenia; winning the 2006 Independent Music Awards; and being showcased on the BBS broadcast of the CSUF Fresno Armenian Concert
